Rank Wise Salary and Allowances in Indian Army

In the Indian Army, salaries and benefits are distributed based on hierarchy. The 7th Pay Commission determines the salaries of Army commanders and troops based on a number of variables, including years of service and rank.

Salary Rank Wise

The current basic pay in the Indian Army ranges from Rs 21,700 to Rs 2,50,000. In addition to this, the grade pay, referred to as the pay scale, varies from Grade Pay Level -3 to Grade Pay Level -18. The in-hand compensation within the military is determined by the duration of service, rank, and base salary.

In addition to this, it is not mandatory for army personnel to receive a rank promotion in order to attain a higher salary. Occasionally, a soldier may experience a salary increase based on their length of service, even if they are not promoted for various reasons. Allowances in Indian Army

Apart from salary, soldiers and officers of Indian Army are also given various types of allowances . These allowances depend on their rank, place of deployment and nature of work.

Dearness Allowance (DA)

Dearness Allowance is determined by the government from time to time and is a percentage of the employee’s basic pay. Currently, it is around 53% .

House Rent Allowance (HRA)

This allowance is given in case the soldier does not get government accommodation. It depends on the deployment area & Now it is:

  • Class X cities (big cities): 30% of basic pay
  • Y category cities (medium cities): 20% of basic pay
  • Z class cities (small cities): 10% of basic pay

Transport Allowance

This allowance is given based on the posting location. For example:

  • ₹3,600 + DA in class X cities
  • ₹1,800 + DA in class Y and Z cities

Siachen Allowance

₹42,500 per month is given on deployment in high and harsh areas like Siachen.

Field Area Allowance

  • Field Area Allowance is given to soldiers who are deployed in difficult areas :
  • Ordinary Field Area: ₹10,500 per month
  • Difficult field area: ₹21,000 per month

High Altitude Allowance

This allowance is given to soldiers who are posted in high-altitude areas. It can range from ₹1,060 to ₹16,900 per month.

Dress Allowance

Every year, up to ₹20,000 is given to Indian Army officers and 12 soldiers as dress allowance .

Children Education Allowance (CEA)

₹2,390 per month per child (for a maximum of two children) is given for children’s education.

Grants and other allowances

Facilities like marriage grant , retirement grant , and remote area allowance are also provided.

How to download Indian Army Salary Slip?

The Indian Army and the Government of India (GOI) together have now started online services for military personnel, with the help of which military personnel can now view their salary slip and allowances information online with the help of their smartphone or computer, on the portals / services started for this are as follows-

  • Hamraaz Web – https://web.hamraazmp8.gov.in/ Hamraaz is a portal developed by the technical team of Indian Army (MP-8) branch, with the help of which Indian military personnel can view their Salary Slip, Order – 2, Form – 16 etc.
  • DSC – https://dsc.gov.in/: If any soldier is working in Defense Security Corps, then the Government of India has started this portal for him, the soldier can download his payslip with the help of this portal.
